What is M4P files?

File in .M4P format are "Protected AAC File". Songs purchased via iTunes are in the protected m4p format.

AAC is the audio layer from the follow-on format to MP3 (see .M4A extension). The .M4P extension is AAC purchased from Apple's Music Store (iTune) and is protected by a Digital Rights Management scheme.

How to play M4P music files?

If they're DRM protected, it probably goes to reason that the only DRM M4P music player is... iTunes.
